What is an exam copy and how do I order?

Exam copy textbooks (also known as sample copies, inspection copies and evaluation copies) are for lecturers looking for set texts or primary reading for their courses.
We send books free of charge so you can review their suitability for a course. Instead of payment we ask for feedback on books and confirmation of whether they will be used in your teaching.

To order, simply find the book you are interested in - you can search in the top right hand corner or browse through our subject lists.
Once you've found your title, click on the 'request exam copy' button and follow the online instructions to complete your request.

What is a desk copy and how do I order?

If you have already adopted a book but haven't got a copy for yourself, you may be eligible for a desk copy.

To order, simply find the book you are interested in - you can search in the top right hand corner or browse through our subject lists.

Once you've found your title, click on the 'request exam copy' button. Once logged in, ensure you select ‘desk copy' and follow the online instructions to complete your request.

Am I eligible for an exam copy?

Although we do our best to provide copies to all who need them, unfortunately not all lecturers are eligible for a free copy- please review our terms and conditions for more information.

There isn't a 'request exam copy' button

Not all of our books are widely available through our online exam copy service. If there's a book you are interested in, we may still be able to send it out to you. Please email us with the details below:
  • The name(s) of the instructor(s) teaching on the course
  • The academic address to which the book should be sent
  • The book title, author and ISBN
  • Course/module name, start date number of students per year
  • If you are adopting the book, please include the adoption type (e.g. Essential/One of Two/Recommended or Background reading)
